AMBUCS Scholarship
for Therapists
Since 1955, National AMBUCS has awarded over $10 million in scholarships to students pursuing degrees in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and audiology. Chapter-sponsored applicants receive priority consideration.
Who Is Eligible
- Students accepted into a graduate-level program accredited in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, or audiology.
- Assistant or undergraduate programs are not eligible.
- Awards are based on financial need, commitment to community, character, and career objectives.
- Applications sponsored by a local AMBUCS chapter receive priority consideration.
What Is Awarded
- Over $200,000 awarded annually across all chapters.
- Individual awards range from $600 to $1,500.
- One special two-year award of $6,000 is available.
- Award money is deposited directly into the student's account with their school's financial aid office.

What You'll Need to Apply
Gather these materials before starting the national application.
FAFSA
Complete your FAFSA and obtain your Student Aid Report (SAR). Even if you don't want federal aid, this is required. Plan ahead — it can take several weeks.
Proof of Enrollment
A document from your registrar confirming enrollment in an accredited graduate therapy program. First-year students may email [email protected] if unavailable.
Personal Statement
A one-page statement describing what kind of therapist you want to be, why, and your volunteer experience — especially with people with mobility challenges.
